About Highbridge

Highbridge Aquatics is a USA Swimming club based in Central Kentucky utilizing the Luce Center within Asbury University. The mission of the HA swim team, including coaches and families, is to promote participation in competitive swimming by providing a safe, enjoyable, well- organized program for age group and senior swimmers that is committed to integrity and high ethical standards.

Meet our Head Coach: Chris Fugmann

Coach Fugmann is responsible for administering the Highbridge Aquatics program and coaching all of the practice groups. He is married, with two daughters, and was the owner of Climate Control Corporation for 26 years, until 2013. Chris started Highbridge Aquatics in the fall of 1990. Prior to that, he coached a Lexington team call Brookhill Swim Club for 6 years. Chris grew up in Lexington and participated with the Greater Lexington Swim Association (GLSA) for 12 years. As a youngster, Chris set 18 Kentucky State Records and one Kentucky High School State Record. His background also includes water polo, when in 1975, was an All-American on the United States Water Polo Team. (More on our Coaches)

Our Club Is Our Family

The vision of HA is to offer, through a well-organized competitive swim program, the
opportunity for members to develop their individual capabilities at all levels of USA
Swimming. In addition, members will develop a deep respect for teamwork, friendship,
life-long learning and athletic ability to their fullest potential. HA will provide a safe
atmosphere where young people can develop confidence, personal responsibility,
positive self-image, a healthy body and an optimistic attitude towards life while having
fun. HA will employ a highly trained and qualified coaching staff and will strive to
achieve club excellence as defined by USA swimming. The coaches and parents will
work together to nurture a quality swim team community and thereby achieve the goals
of the entire HA family.

Practice & Team Events

In addition to our 6 day per-week optional practice schedule, throughout the year families and swimmers may participate in several outside activities such as our Halloween Party, Christmas Party and Year-End Banquet.

Swim Meets & Travel

Throughout Short Course season, September – March and Long Course, April – July, Highbridge Aquatics swimmers will have the opportunity to participate in swim meets held in various other cities and states. Team hotels are typically selected to provide the best rates for those in attendance and meet fees are paid separate of monthly swim fees.

Weight Training & Dryland

Once per week, swimmers over the age of 15 have the opportunity to participate in supervised weight lifting for additional strength training. Specific practice days throughout the week may include dryland workouts which all swimmers are encouraged to attend.

Monthly swim dues are paid from
September – March and good for
the entire 2020 / 2021 Season (Sept – August)

8&U – $155/month / 7 mos.
9-12 – $189/month / 7 mos.
13+ – $215/month / 7 mos.

Other charges include:
